Membership And Meetings
-
The CAF is an independent organization formed in 2016 and funded by member dues. Members are insurance enterprises (both direct writers and reinsurers) and actuarial consulting firms who are represented by their Chief Actuary. For member companies not having a Chief Actuary role, individuals holding an equivalent senior position can serve as the member's representative. Each member company can nominate both a primary representative and an alternative representative, to maintain continuity when the primary representative is not available.
-
The CAF typically has two in-person meetings a year, which are structured to minimize time away from work and home. These meetings are held near major airports and start with a reception and dinner followed by a session the following day that runs from breakfast to 1:00 PM or so.
-
The CAF also meets two or more times during the year via video conference calls. These calls allow large numbers of member company actuaries to listen in on cutting-edge topics presented by leading practitioners in the field, followed by discussion among CAF representatives and the presenter(s).
